The Big Day!

Simply magical.

It was the longest day of my life, and yet the happiest. How could one day, that one specific day, hold so much power over two individuals, namely the bride and groom? I never thought it was possible. Until I became a bride myself.

A preview of the Big Day
It was our most anticipated day. After months of remote organising a wedding, that night was the culmination, the conclusion of all those hard work, and the justification behind misunderstandings and sometimes, unreasonable fights we had over the phone. It wasn't easy, I tell you. There were times when it became too much to handle.

Day before the wedding. We were not supposed to see each other, and we didn't. Our phones were the only ones that did the talking, secretly wishing we could somehow pull the other out from the phone for a glimpse. But no. It's forbidden to see each other 24hrs before the wedding. Some say, it's bad luck. Others say it could lead to a cancelled wedding. For some, it's just the thrill of not seeing your soon-to-be spouse. We did it for the latter. It was the longest 24hrs ever!

And the Big Day came. As I stood outside of the church, closed doors, I could hear the familiar melody of the song I played on my iPhone the past few weeks. This is it, I told myself. A choir is playing, it's no longer the iPhone. My heart was beating loudly that the melodious intro was barely audible. My legs and feet felt heavy.

The doors opened.

I looked at my parents, who were waiting for me halfway through the altar, and didn't know what to expect. Everyone was standing and looking at me. Some were even craning their necks to see me. I couldn't see my groom. But my heart told me he's there, waiting.

As I took the first step, all I could hear was the sound of my chest and everything was blur, a hazy reality. I could hear the music but not the words I almost memorised after playing the song a gazillion times.

And I took the first step to my Ever After.

He is my Ever After, my eternity. I couldn't ask for more. The night, which concluded with dinner and a few drinks, a program and presentation witnessed by our closest friends and family, was a blast. Something for the books.

We have just begun our journey as Mr & Mrs, and we are confident that we can make it through. Together.

Happiness is an understatement. I thanked my lucky stars and the One above for this amazing feeling and equally amazing person. It just feels so damn good to be loved so bad.
